hen Jamie was in high school, her parents divorced, creating some uncertainty about how she would pay for college. She knew she wanted to come to Illinois State because she immediately liked the campus and felt comfortable here. Jamie and her mother worked through the financial aid process together. They met with a financial aid counselor in the summer after her senior year. Modest federal and state grants, student loans, and Federal Work Study make Jamie’s college education possible.

Illinois State offers three highly competitive, merit-based scholarships to students with exceptional academic talent. You will be automatically considered for the Presidential and University Scholarship Programs if you are a first-time freshman and you apply for admission and submit all required admissions documents during the preferred filing period. First-time community college transfer students who earned an associate's degree are automatically considered for the Community College Transfer Scholarship Porgram. If you qualify, the Office of Admissions will invite you to participate in the selection process.

Students need to be first-time community college transfer students, and have completed an associate’s degree (A.A. or A.S.) prior to enrolling at the University. A minimum cumulative transfer grade point average of a 3.5 on a 4.0 scale as calculated by the Office of Admissions is required at time of application.
