Military Service
Illinois National Guard (ING) Grant
Active members of the Illinois National Guard (Army or Air) may receive an ING grant to cover certain tuition and fees.
- Who is eligible: Illinois National Guard members have completed a full year of service and who:
- are currently active in the Illinois National Guard, OR
- have been active in the Illinois National Guard for at least five consecutive years and had his/her studies interrupted by being called to federal active duty service for at least six months and be within 12 months after your discharge date from the Illinois National Guard.
- How to apply: Complete the online application on or before October 1 of the academic year for which you're requesting assistance. Contact ISAC if you cannot apply electronically.

Illinois Veterans Grant
Armed Forces veterans who lived in Illinois for at least six months before entering the service and return to Illinois within six months after discharge may receive an Illinois Veterans Grant.
- Who is eligible: Honorably discharged military veterans who meet residency requirements and who:
- have served at least one year of federal active duty service in the Armed Forces of the United States, which may include the Illinois National Guard and the Reserve component of the Armed Forces, OR
- regardless of length of service, have served in a foreign country in a time of hostilities in that country; have been medically discharged for service related reasons; or have been discharged prior to August 11, 1967.
- How to apply: Complete and submit the IVG application. Applications for the IVG Program can be submitted any time during the academic year for which assistance is being requested, and need to be submitted only once to establish eligibility.
